We are seeking a compassionate and experienced mental health support worker for a casual ongoing role at High Disability Services, located in Magill, SA. This position requires an immediate start.
The role involves providing dedicated support to a participant with complex mental health needs, including anxiety, BPD, C-PTSD and emotional dysregulation. The participant requires a calm and patient worker who can build trust, provide emotional reassurance, and support daily routines.
The participant experiences periods of high anxiety and can struggle with emotional regulation, particularly when faced with changes in routine, sensory overload, losing items or heightened emotional states. You will play a key role in helping to stabilise these challenges through understanding, consistent care, and trauma-informed approaches.
This role focuses on creating a positive and supportive environment to assist the participant in developing emotional resilience, maintaining daily structure, and engaging in meaningful activities that align with their interests.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-on-one support in a home-based environment, fostering trust and consistency.
Assist with emotional regulation during periods of high anxiety and stress.
Support daily routines and tasks while maintaining a calm and structured approach.
Implement strategies that encourage engagement in meaningful activities to promote well-being.
Use trauma-informed practices to ensure care is sensitive, respectful, and supportive.
Collaborate with family members, health professionals, and other stakeholders to ensure continuity of care.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
