You’ll work closely with a brilliant data scientist (currently doing it all), and own every part of backend infra—from ingesting massive public datasets, to scaling LLM-driven document parsing, to laying down a system that won’t break when we hit 10mio users.

It’s fast-moving, impact-heavy, and deeply collaborative.

What you’ll be doing:

• Re-architecting a working MVP into a scalable, stable backend
• Designing pipelines for document parsing, OCR, and LLM integration
• Building ingestion layers for public data sets and optimizing our DB
• Owning backend deployment, monitoring, and performance
• Collaborating with data science and occasionally plugging into the frontend (React)

What you'll bring to the team:

• Strong backend engineering experience (Python, PostgreSQL, AWS)
• Experience building in small teams—ideally with 0–1 product ownership
• Pragmatic thinking: you don’t gold-plate, you ship
• Strong opinions, weakly held—able to debate, then decide
