About the Role
Arts, Heritage and Libraries branch enlivens and enriches the lives of residents and visitors through the provision of library services, creative, cultural and heritage programs.
As a Mobile Library Operator, you will operate Council’s Mobile Library Truck, complete setup requirements, deliver outstanding service to customers, champion all library services and resources, and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of Sunshine Coast Libraries.
Provide outstanding customer service to Sunshine Coast Council Libraries customers.
Manage the day-to-day operation of a mobile library branch in liaison with the Mobile Libraries Supervisor in the provision of frontline services to library users to ensure quality control of circulation procedures and appropriate distribution of workloads.
Assist with the retail presentation of libraries ensuring they remain fresh and modern looking places.
Assist in the provision of readers’ advisory, reference, and information services to library users, including on-line information retrieval and instruction on the use of library resources, technology and equipment.
Ensure the safe operation of the mobile library trucks and assist with the maintenance and upkeep of the mobile libraries’ prime movers and semi-trailers, completing vehicle checks and reporting issues as appropriate.
Maintain a strong knowledge of library resources including digital and online resources.
Perform library duties such as shelving, issues, returns, collection maintenance and internal cleaning of the mobile library.
About you
Is essential to this position that you possess a possess a HR and or HC driving licence along with general knowledge of the vehicle’s functions and limitations, and thorough knowledge of road traffic rules concerning heavy vehicles.
As a requirement of this role, it is desirable you possess a Certificate III in Library and Information Services or equivalent, related qualifications or professional experience. experience.
Previous relevant experience with demonstrated communication and strong customer service skills in the provision of information in person, email, telephone and other standard business correspondence.
You will have the availability to work any 5 in 7 day and across multiple council work locations, as rostered.

Essential to your success is physical agility and the level of fitness, strength and dexterity to carry out labouring and frequent heavy lifting & bending. As such, appointment to this position is subject to completion of a pre-employment medical assessment.
