About us:
Gladstone Hospital is a level 3 facility which at present has 70 inpatient beds and offers a range of general and specialist inpatient and outpatient services including emergency, general medicine and surgery, basic orthopaedic, clinical investigation, obstetrics, maternity, gynaecology, high dependency and coronary care, palliative care, medical imaging, pathology and paediatrics.
Additional services include Mental Health, Alcohol and other Drugs Service, oral health, physiotherapy, dietetics, speech pathology and outreach/community-based facilities, as well as a Primary Health Care Centre located at Boyne Valley. Gladstone Hospital is the hub for Gladstone and Banana regions.
About the role:
The Clinical Director, as a part of the clinical executive, leads and manages the medical team enabling high quality, contemporary services integrated within the clinical services framework of Gladstone Hospital. Liaison and coordination with other clinical departments is critical as is ongoing service development and teaching so as to provide for a sustainable service.
The Clinical Director (Medicine) will:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction, service planning, effective management and provision of medical services.
- Be responsible for the education and supervision of junior medical staff and medical students.
- Report to the Director of Medical Services, Gladstone and Banana.
About you:
- Registration or eligibility for registration as a Specialist in General Medicine with the Australian Health Practitioner Agency. This will require Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in the specialty of General Medicine.
- Enrolment and maintenance of ongoing CME program of appropriate bodies is mandatory.
- MBBS or equivalent to be eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Austral
- The appointee will be required to undergo a credentialing process and will be granted appropriate scope of clinical practice. There is a system of review and renewal of credentials and Scope of Clinical Practice for Specialists and Non-specialist Senior Medical Officers on staff. This is reviewed on a five-yearly basis. Your qualifications, registration and certified skills and competencies determine the scope of clinical practice you will be granted and subsequently your position title and salary status.

Salary information:
Total remuneration value of up to $566,378 p.a. is comprised of:
- A salary rate between $251,527 - $266,677 p.a. (L25-L27)
- A salary rate between $210,332 - $244,313 p.a. (L18-L24)
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
