Are you passionate about maintaining and enhancing our community's parks and facilities? Join our dedicated team as a Parks & Open Spaces Building Maintenance Officer and play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal condition of our built assets in the Mackay Region.

About this opportunity:

As the Building Maintenance Officer, you will provide assistance to carry out general maintenance on Parks built assets to ensure that they are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with Australian standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and audit park amenities like picnic shelters, furniture, shade structures, and buildings.
  • Perform general maintenance, trade-level repairs and occasionally construct all forms of infrastructure associated with parks and open spaces to ensure safety and compliance with Australian standards.
  • Operate and maintain small plant equipment and power tools.
  • Use technology for communication, data collection, and work order management.
  • Complete scheduled works and contribute to specific projects.
  • Raise work requests for non-scheduled tasks.
  • Meet customer and stakeholder requirements while maintaining Council's image and reputation.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and standards.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • General ConstructionInduction Training
  • QLD "C" Class Driver's Licence
  • Elevated Working Platform High Risk Work Licence
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of small plant equipment and power tools.
  • Practical experience in general maintenance tasks and trade-level repairs.
  • Sound verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deliver quality service with attention to detail.

Desirable

  • Medium Rigid (MR) Licence.
  • Experience in operational inspection of park facilities.
  • Trade Qualification in a related field such as Carpentry, Building and Construction, Painting and Decorating, or similar relevant trade.
