Fixed term, part time role - 0.6 FTE, 45.60 hours per fortnight
Salary: VPS 5.1 - $113,022 - $124,884 (pro-rata) + 11.5% superannuation

About the role:
Reporting to the Team Leader, Permitting, the Senior Permissioning Officer is a member of a team responsible for implementing EPA's permissioning framework. You will manage registrations, issue permits and appoint accredited consignors under the Environment Protection Act 2017, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities.
In this role you will:
- As a senior member of the Permitting team, peer review, provide technical expertise and mentor less experienced team members so the high standards of performance are met.
- Implement EPA's permissioning framework to ensure that scheduled activities, infrastructure, and other development projects are appropriately approved under the Environment Protection Act 2017
- In consultation with Science Division, Operations Division and Legal Branch, manage registrations, issue permits and appoint accredited consignors under the Environment Protection Act 2017
- Support continuous improvement in EPA's permissioning function, including the review and updating of permissioning processes, policies, and procedures; establishment of learning and development materials; analysis and reporting on performance.
Skills and experience:
- A relevant tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications is desirable.
- Senior level experience in permissioning, preferably within Government.
- Industry or consulting experience particularly in the areas of waste management or environmental management is desirable.
- Experience in contaminated land management and remediation practices is desirable.
- Detailed knowledge of the Environment Protection Act 2017 and regulations.
- Detailed knowledge of development assessment and approval processes, and the translation of policy and guidance into practical application.
- Proven ability to mentor, provide technical expertise and peer review the work of less experienced team members.
