Tropic Petroleum, a locally owned fuel and oils company, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the position of 2IC/Assistant Manager for our busy stores in Townsville. We are looking for a highly organised, self-motivated, and enthusiastic person with a strong work ethic who enjoys working in a busy environment with strong ties to the local community.

Reporting to the Retail Operations Managers and site manager, you will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the site. This is a customer focused role with previous experience in retail and the food industry being highly regarded.

The sites are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Your roster will be rotating weekends once trained.

Monday 1000-1800

Tuesday 1000-1800

Wednesday 1000-1800

Thursday 1000-1800

Friday Off

Saturday Off

Sunday 700-1500

As well as strong interpersonal skills relevant experience in the following is highly desired however not essential as full training is provided:

Rosters and budgets

Console operation

Basic equipment maintenance and monitoring of electrical and pump equipment.

Basic store administrations, including daily reports, money handling, balancing, banking and reconciliation

Stock control, including data processing and management of stock to maximise sales and minimise stock wastage

Daily fuel monitoring, dips and meter reads

Stocktaking and reconciliation

Maintaining exceptional service and customer experience

Merchandising strategies and promotional compliance

Supervising staff

Development and training the staff of console operators, improving performance and productivity of the store team while maintaining a safe working environment and positive workplace culture

Ensure that all operations of the site are running smoothly

Liaising with suppliers, vendors, internal and external accounts

Forklift License a plus

Other day to day duties required to run the business

In addition, the successful applicant must have a 'hands on" role in performing console operator duties.

The site operates Beacon POS and back-office systems. A sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel is mandatory.
