About the Role

FRV has a number of vacancies available for Casual Practical Area Drill (PAD) Operator’s, to support the delivery of practical training for CFA at field training grounds across Victoria.

Operate all Field Training Ground (FTG) resources to ensure safe and effective delivery of practical training.

Conduct required maintenance to ensure all FTG resources remain in a “Training Ready” condition.

Supervise training activities for volunteers, career personnel and community members commensurate with their skills and competencies.

Operate and regulate training props, including hot fire; preparation of training scenarios and relevant resources/facilities prior to the conduct of training.

Apply a risk management approach to all FTG activities to ensure compliance with OH&S legislation and standing operating procedures.

Applicants will be required to work night and weekend work, including the opening and securing of the facility as required. Outdoors work during adverse weather conditions may be required in line with FRV/ CFA policy and procedure. The applicant will be required to wear personal protective equipment in accordance with FRV/CFA policies and procedures. Including the wearing of breathing apparatus and the applicant may be required to travel and work at other location for specified training sessions.

What you will need to Succeed

To be successful in this position, you will have:

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Strong problem solving and decision-making capability.

The ability to effectively plan and organise the delivery of work against objectives.

Proven ability and willingness to make decisions within a complex service delivery environment.

Appropriate level of technical expertise in the area of firefighting operations, standard operating procedures and practices.

Experience with risk control, assessment and mitigation activities.

A sound knowledge of OH&S policies, procedures and legislation.

A current driver’s licence.

PAD Operators are required to have the following current or superseded competencies:

PUAFIR207 Operate breathing apparatus

PUAOHS002B Maintain safety at an incident scene

PUAFIR201B Prevent Injury

PUATEA001 Work in a team
