About this opportunity:

Join our finance team to provide accurate financial support, accounting, budgeting, and reporting. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, standards, and legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse financial data and advise Council programs
  • Assist in budget development and monitoring
  • Recommend internal controls and financial policies
  • Maintain financial reports and systems
  • Support and coach team members
  • Handle treasury functions like cash flow, reconciliations, and investments
  • Prepare annual financial statements
  • Assist with the annual audit and auditor queries
  • Administer grants and subsidies, providing financial information
  • Advise on accounting developments for local government

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce, or Accounting for membership to the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants or Chartered Accountants Association (for Accountant positions)
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and legislation interpretation
  • Understanding of asset and business process management software
  • Practical experience in project and financial management accounting
  • Experience with integrated accounting systems maintenance
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word and Excel
