About this opportunity:

In these roles, you'll be at the heart of ensuring our financial accounting is spot on, our budgets are on track, and our reporting is top-notch-all while keeping in line with policies, standards, and legislative requirements. This is a bonza chance to make a real impact in a dynamic, forward-thinking environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyse financial data and provide advice to Council programs
  • Assist in budget development and monitoring, offering advice to managers and officers
  • Recommend internal control and financial policies
  • Maintain financial management reports and systems
  • Assist with the maintenance of financial data within the asset register
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual financial statements
  • Undertake investigations and reviews as requested by management
  • Administer grants and subsidies, providing financial information
  • Advise on accounting developments for local government

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Finance, Commerce, or Accounting, or equivalent which allows membership to the Australian Society of Certified Practising Accountants or Chartered Accountants Association or sound practical experience commensurate with the position requirements
  • Specialised knowledge of and application in accounting, accounting standards, and the ability to interpret legislation
  • Well-developed understanding of asset management and business process management software
  • Significant practical accounting experience in project management or financial management
  • Experience in computerised integrated accounting systems including the maintenance of such systems
  • Advanced computer application skills in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel based programs
