The opportunity:
Powerlink is expanding, and we're on the lookout for passionate Senior Network Management Applications Engineers & Network Management Application Engineers to join our Advanced Energy Management System (AEMS) project team. If you're driven by the prospect of shaping the future of Queensland's energy transmission network, this is your chance to make a significant impact.
In this role, you will provide engineering advice to stakeholders and support of the integration of new technologies and best practices in our energy management operations.
Further to this you will;
- Lead the development of solutions for new and existing systems to ensure maximum network performance and commercial outcomes
- Lead the design and development of solutions for real time applications
- Provide engineering support and technical expertise for the efficient operation of our AEMS
- Identify areas for improvement in current processes and systems
- Collaborate with a range of stakeholders to deliver configuration, installation and testing activities for the AEMS project
- Support the high availability of AEMS services relating to planned outages, fault management and fault analysis

Powerlink is embarking on the Next Generation of Network Operations (NGNO) portfolio—a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine how we operate our network. This program is focused on making our operations more adaptable and efficient in response to an evolving energy landscape.
As a Network Management Applications Engineer, you will be focused on the implementation of our new Advanced Energy Management System, a key project within the NGNO portfolio.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering coupled with experience in Energy Management Systems, Distribution Management Systems or Generation Management Systems
- RPEQ or the ability to obtain within 12 months (for the Senior role)
You will be experience in engineering application management for power systems and SCADA. You will have a proven ability to complete all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, integration, and commissioning of application software and databases. Ideally, you will have knowledge of leading software development packages and be proficient in at two of the following: C#, scripting languages (Python, Perl, etc.), and C or C++. Additionally, you will have an understanding of state estimation and contingency analysis.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders. You will have proven experience in leading projects and teams, with a track record of delivering successful outcomes. Your proactive and innovative mindset, coupled with a passion for driving change and achieving excellence, will make you a valuable asset to our team.
