Key Responsibilities

As the Payroll Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll operations across the organisation. This includes:

• Overseeing day-to-day payroll operations with a focus on quality and compliance
• Managing complex payroll issues and acting as the escalation point for internal stakeholders
• Providing expert advice on payroll matters including employee benefits, tax, and superannuation
• Ensuring payroll compliance in line with relevant EBAs, legislation and policies
• Leading data reconciliation, audits, and process quality checks
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to system and process enhancements
• Collaborating with internal departments including People Advisory, Finance, and IT
• Leading and supporting a small team while fostering a customer-centric approach to service delivery

Essential Criteria

• Proven experience leading payroll operations within a complex organisation (essential)
• Demonstrated expertise using CHRIS21 (essential)
• Strong working knowledge of Enterprise Agreements, superannuation, and payroll legislation
• Ability to liaise with senior stakeholders and communicate effectively at all levels
• Strong attention to detail and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Government or public sector experience highly regarded
