The Role

We're seeking an experienced Mechatronics/Electrical Engineer to join our expanding team. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge defence technology projects involving complex electronic systems, from initial concept through to production. You'll be at the forefront of designing robust, high-performance electronic systems that operate reliably in demanding environments whilst collaborating with our multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

Circuit Design & Development: Design and layout schematics and PCBs involving microcontrollers, RF circuits, and digital power supplies

Prototype Development: Lead embedded system prototype bring-up, debugging, and comprehensive board validation

Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs meet EMC, safety, and thermal performance requirements

System Integration: Collaborate closely with our Embedded, Mechanical, and Software teams to deliver seamless system-level integration for defence applications

Hardware Documentation: Develop detailed circuit schematics, BOMs, and technical documentation

Laboratory Work: Hands-on validation and troubleshooting using advanced test equipment

Essential Requirements

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in PCB CAD tools (Altium Designer, Eagle, KiCad, or similar)

Strong understanding of DC power fundamentals: voltage regulation, current sensing, grounding, and thermal design

Experience with digital power supply topologies (buck, boost, LDOs, etc.)

Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analysers, etc.)

Knowledge of common communication protocols and interface design

Basic embedded C/C++ experience for test automation and firmware bring-up

Professional Skills:

Familiarity with Git version control for hardware and documentation collaboration

Understanding of wiring harnesses, connector selection, and cable routing best practices

Practical hands-on experience: confident with soldering, reworking, and prototype assembly

Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking
