MARS are proudly partnering with an established and well-regarded Property company, that's seeking an experienced Financial Controller to support them through a critical period, with a focus on year-end close, financial reporting, audit management, and technical accounting. This is an initial 4 month fixed term contract, with potential for extension or permanency.

The Opportunity:

This is a unique opportunity to step into a key leadership role during a time of strategic transition. You'll be working with a capable and collaborative finance team, taking ownership of technical deliverables without getting caught up in day-to-day BAU. You'll also help shape the accounting treatment for several newly executed commercial agreements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the year-end close and external audit process, working with a Big 4 audit firm
• Oversee timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards
• Provide technical accounting guidance on the treatment of long-term project contracts and legal structures
• Drive consolidation and revenue recognition decisions across multiple entities and projects
• Partner with the CFO to deliver critical outcomes during this interim period
• Supervise a team of 11 experienced finance staff

About You:

• CA/CPA qualified, with strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
• Background in audit (Big 4 or similar), or strong experience working alongside Big 4 auditors in a commercial setting
• Skilled in managing financial reporting cycles and solving complex accounting issues
• Strong communicator and team leader, that thrives in a collaborative and down-to-earth environment
• Experience using large ERP systems and confident in Excel

To Note:

• Must be available at short notice/able to commence by 1st July
• Able to commit through to the end of October, with openness to a longer-term opportunity.
• Flexible WFH arrangements - 3 days in the office, 2 days from home.
• Paid street parking available.
• The successful candidate is required to carry out a national police check.
