What You'll Be Doing
- Conduct Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) assessments to determine client needs and goals.
- Recommend and demonstrate a range of speech-generating devices, including eye-gaze systems, direct access systems, and both low-tech and high-tech switches (e.g., the NeuroNode switch, developed by Control Bionics, which uses EMG technology to detect subtle muscle movements and act as a click on the computer).
- Train clients and families on effective device use.
- Collaborate with speech pathologists, occupational therapists, NDIS participants, and their families to deliver comprehensive support.
- Stay updated on assistive technology advancements and provide feedback for product development.
Team and Reporting
- Report to the Sales Manager and collaborate with a team of 5 assistive technology consultants in Australia, part of a global team of over 40 employees.
What we're looking for
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field, such as biomedical engineering, speech pathology, occupational therapy, or related discipline.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively with clients and healthcare professionals.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills to tailor solutions to individual needs.
- Passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities.
- Access to a car and a full driver’s license.
