About the Role

As the Retail Manager at K&B Mitre 10 Blackwood, you will play a pivotal role in the daily success of the store. You’ll be responsible for creating a welcoming and productive environment for both customers and staff. This is a hands-on leadership position that blends people management, operational excellence, and customer focus.

You’ll lead a passionate team who take pride in helping customers with everything from DIY projects to large trade jobs. Whether it's guiding team members on the floor, managing stock flow, or working with senior leadership to improve store performance, you’ll be actively involved in all aspects of the business.

Your ability to balance service excellence with operational discipline will be key to achieving sales and profitability targets while upholding the values and reputation of the K&B brand.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment and who enjoys rolling up their sleeves to get things done.

What You’ll Bring

Proven experience in a leadership role within a retail or trade environment — hardware/home improvement experience highly regarded

Strong team leadership and people management skills — you know how to motivate, coach, and bring out the best in others

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills — confident interacting with customers, suppliers, and your team

A customer-first mindset — committed to delivering exceptional service and building customer loyalty

Solid understanding of retail operations — including stock control, merchandising, sales reporting, and rostering

Results-driven with the ability to meet sales targets, manage budgets, and implement business improvements

Hands-on and proactive — willing to jump in wherever needed and lead by example

Problem-solving ability and a cool head under pressure — able to resolve issues quickly and calmly

Competency with retail systems and point-of-sale technology

Forklift licence or willingness to obtain (preferred)

Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including some weekends and public holidays
