About the Role:
Our client is seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their dynamic team supporting a major portfolio of brownfield and sustaining capital projects within the alumina and mining sector. This role offers the opportunity to lead the design and execution of complex mechanical systems and to drive innovation and engineering excellence across a variety of challenging assignments.

Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee mechanical engineering design activities from concept through to detailed design and execution.

Provide technical leadership and mentoring to a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers.

Deliver high-quality mechanical engineering deliverables that meet project requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.

Liaise closely with internal stakeholders and project teams to ensure alignment on project objectives, scope, and milestones.

Support site-based engineering, inspections, and troubleshooting during construction and commissioning phases.

Promote and ensure a strong focus on safety, sustainability, and reliability in all engineering activities.

Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and standards.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or working towards chartership (preferred).

Minimum 10–15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with significant exposure to the mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial sectors.

Strong technical expertise in materials handling systems, pressure vessels, piping systems, and rotating equipment.

Proven track record in leading engineering teams on complex brownfield projects.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members.

Commitment to fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
