We are seeking a compassionate and skilled nurse to join our team, working closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, families, and communities. Your Contribution

The position is responsible for the provision of patient centered care. As specified by AHPRA, the Enrolled Nurse (EN) works under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse and is always accountable and responsible for their actions in providing delegated nursing care. This role is responsible for performing nursing assessment, clinical interventions, monitoring, and evaluation of health conditions while ensuring ongoing communication with about patient care with the Registered Nurse. This role contributes to decision making through monitoring changes in the health and functional status of patients. This role may entail service delivery from a primary health clinic located outside of Townsville (Ingham).

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients/visitors/other staff members
  • Provision of daily nursing support for registered nurses and doctors
  • Undertaking all tasks within scope of practice of an enrolled nurse
  • Ensuring patient records are current and maintained in a confidential manner
  • Stock management of clinic supplies
  • Direct patient care e.g. performing clinical observations, wound dressings, administering medications and injections under the treatment orders of General Practitioners
  • Assist with home visits when required
  • Maintain consulting treatment room/s assigned, ensuring materials are fully stocked and tidied after each consult (this includes changing bed linen/paper after each patient)
  • Report any functional problems with clinic equipment in accordance with process
  • Comply with TAIHS Primary Health Care Procedures Manual in the delivery of care and services
  • Comply with TAIHS Vaccine Management Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • Conduct full handover of patients to other health practitioners and Ensure progress notes, reports and records are completed in the required format
  • Ensure infection control standards are upheld
  • Accurately document in client files any treatment and medication information
  • Maintain recall and follow up of patients as per General Practitioner/s requests
  • Retrieval of patient records from other medical practices as requested
  • Store, prepare and administer medication in accordance with the Health Drugs and Poisons Regulation
  • Instruct client/care givers on quality use of medications and how to obtain new medication supplies when required
  • Conduct Dangerous Drug check and count weekly.
  • Pursues own professional development to fulfil registration requirements and actively engages with company instigated training

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma of Nursing
  • AHPRA Registration
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and recent experience working as an EEN
  • Knowledge and experience with treatment and management of health issues relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, relatives and a broad range of health professionals
  • Ability to administer and document patient medications and prescribed treatment accurately
  • Evidenced experience in the General Practice Clinic in a clinical capacity
