About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Safety and Quality (HSQ), as a Graduate Safety Systems Officer you will play a key role in enhancing, managing, and overseeing the Safety Management System and Quality Assurance framework. This position ensures that policies and procedures comply with relevant business, legislative, and regulatory requirements while aligning with current industry best practices. This is an ideal entry point into the aviation industry, offering the opportunity to develop a strong understanding of safety and quality.

Applicants must have completed, at a minimum, a bachelor’s degree in aviation (or related field), with graduation occurring in 2024 or 2025. Please note that only applications from Australian citizens and permanent residents will be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

Actively support and promote the organisation's Safety Management System (SMS) by ensuring staff comply with the SMS processes and procedures, providing appropriate direction and resources by monitoring safety activities and performance.

Undertake safety activities and initiatives that enhance continual improvement of the SMS.

Assist in the development and implementation of topical and regular safety campaigns and publications.

Provide subject matter expertise for safety action development to address investigation findings.

Conduct audits and investigations to effectively determine causal and contributory factors.

Ensure a consistent approach to change management by supporting the business in change, management approaches and implementing change management initiatives across the business.

Ensure effective risk Assessments by providing business support in the development and identification of risk across the business.

Collect and analyse key performance indicator data. Preparing graphs and tabular data presentations.

Assist in conducting surveys on safety, risk and compliance.

Assist in providing safety training across the business to meet legislative/regulatory requirements.

Perform other related tasks as required by the HSQ.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Graduated with a Bachelor of Aviation (or related field) in 2024 or 2025.

Basic understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and the CASA SMS Framework.

Lead Investigator qualification in Safety Investigation (desirable).

Auditor qualification in Quality Assurance or Safety Auditing (desirable).

Experience within the aviation industry (desirable).

Demonstrated maturity and professionalism.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
