About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist who's passionate about using data to support better workforce decisions across the public sector. You'll join our Workforce Analytics & Reporting team within the Workforce Planning Branch in the People and Workforce Group to help unlock insights from workforce data and support evidence-based planning and policy development.
As our Senior Data Scientist, you'll work on a range of meaningful projects-analysing workforce data, identifying trends, and providing insights that help shape strategic workforce initiatives. You'll apply your expertise in forecasting, data visualisation, and statistical analysis to support decisions that influence the future of the NSW public sector workforce.

We're Looking For
- Data Science Expertise: Proven experience in applying machine learning, predictive analytics, and data visualisation to solve complex problems
- Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to extract insights from large, complex datasets to inform policy and decision-making
- Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of data infrastructure, data lakes/warehouses, and emerging analytics technologies
- Collaboration & Leadership: Experience working in cross-functional teams and mentoring others to build data capability
- Strategic Mindset: Ability to align analytics with broader workforce strategy and policy objectives
- Communication Skills: Skilled at presenting complex findings to non-technical stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
