We are not looking for someone that has to weld 24/7 to rebuild the Harbour Bridge in Brissy! - Welding makes up maybe 25-35% of the job. It's really a Steel Sales Company that does some welding for builders - posts and plates. The rest is processing small orders that come in daily, cutting orders, loading customers utes etc.

Brisbane Steel Sales currently has an opportunity for a Welder /Workshop Fabricator/Store Person who has a high level of attention to detail with the ability to think strategically. They will be self-motivated and have strong safety ethics. The successful candidate will be physically fit and able to lift steel sections as need be.

We are seeking a Store Person to ensure smooth running of our warehouse, and to exceed our customers expectations.

This is a full time position, Mon - Thurs, 8:15am - 4:30pm, Friday's 8.00am - 3.00pm. working at our warehouse in Rocklea, Brisbane.

The Role –

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to work autonomously with a high level of safety awareness. You will have a high level of attention to detail, ability to manage and process paperwork and plan your daily tasks.

As a representative of our company you will need to have a tidy appearance and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities – including but not limited to

Fabrication and welding of structural steel

Cutting of steel and steel processing (bandsaw, cold saw and strapping machine)

Operating of Punch and shear as required

Maintaining workspace and surrounds

Filling Racks with incoming stock

Reading and interpreting engineering drawings

Picking, packing, loading and unloading trucks with an overhead crane

Checking and maintenance of equipment

Developing and maintaining positive relationships with customers

General warehouse cleaning and tidying

Identifying and picking product

Securing load on trucks

Stocktaking

Prerequisites for this role are:

A proactive approach to working safely

A willingness and aptitude to follow directions and a desire to learn

Experience working within a small busy team and ready to hit the ground running

Forklift licence

Overhead crane experience – favourable

Steel cap boots and suitable safety workwear
