Your opportunity
As a Distribution Operator (Pole Truck Driver / Plant Operator), you’re an essential part of EQL’s Freight Management team, responsible for the safe and efficient delivery, unloading and collection of poles to work sites across South East Queensland to support our integrated works program.
Here’s how you’ll do it:
- Undertake site specific risk assessments (Hazchat) and safety observer activities, in relation to work carried out in high-risk environments including under or near live conductors.
- Day to day, you’ll operate tools, equipment and high-risk plant, undertake stocktakes and inventory checks, and complete pre-operational vehicle checks, basic maintenance, yard housekeeping as well as vehicle and equipment cleaning.
- Effectively manage the daily scheduled pole runs by completing administrative functions including planning and organising daily delivery schedules, interpreting works plans, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and booking traffic control as required.
The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position.

What you’ll bring
- A current HC Licence, Forklift Ticket (LF) and Vehicle Loading Crane exceeding 10m/ton (CV).
- Demonstrated ability to safely and effectively operate heavy and four-wheel drive vehicles, including cranes and winches in compliance with relevant policies and legislation.
- Knowledge and experience practicing safe load restraint techniques for products such as poles, cable and transformers, as well as material handling, inventory management and storage methods.
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship or an Australian permanent residency.
We’d also love you to have:
- Well-developed interpersonal communication skills to develop good working relationships with team members and external customers.
- Experience operating a front-end loader.
- A current pilot or escort driver licence.
- Completed a Certificate III in Driver Operations.
