About the Opportunity
Join the Student Wellbeing and Accessibility team. A multi-disciplinary, open and welcoming group, who are passionate about supporting and enhancing Griffith University and its students.
The team offers students, and staff, a range of support services including counselling, chaplaincy, student safety and health services.
Health and Medical Services provides access to preventative and practical help to students to support looking after themselves while studying and working. Griffith University Health and Medical Services is an accredited general practice, providing a range of medical and ancillary services for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
As Mental Health Nurse work in collaboration with the General Practitioners, Visiting Mental Health Consultants, Psychiatrist and Clinical Nurses at the Griffith University Health and Medical Services to provide services that include:
- Facilitating the coordinated clinical care, assessment and treatment of clients with mental health disorders.
- Liaising with service providers both within and external to Health and Medical Services to ensure appropriate and effective treatment of clients.
- Attending to periodic reviews of clients’ mental states.
- Providing care to clients in acute states of mental un-wellness.
About you
Demonstrated experience in and ability to:
- Work with proficiency and apply theory in clinical care.
- Build effective relationships with mental health clients and review their progress.
- Coordinate mental health services through case conferencing and arranging interventions with healthcare professionals.
- Provide advanced holistic care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Use clear decision-making and innovative problem-solving skills systematically.
- Manage complex situations and support Clinical Nurses.
- Maintain confidential and accurate records in the medical software system.
- Contribute to an integrated multidisciplinary mental health care approach while working independently.
- Administer, monitor, and ensure medication compliance.
- Apply relevant legislation, guidelines, and standards to ensure evidence-based clinical practice.
- Exemplify the University's Code of Conduct, reflecting fairness, ethics, and professionalism.
- Current nursing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and post-graduate qualifications, or equivalent, in a relevant field.
- Current and ongoing vaccination against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, pertussis, and hepatitis B.
Candidates must have full unrestricted Australian work rights and may be subject to a National criminal history check.
What we can offer
This is a continuing opportunity based at Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.
HEW 8 Salary – Base range is $113,713.03 - $127,923.91 + 17% super. Full package range - $133,044.25 - $149,670.98.
