About the Role
The Gold Industry Group (GIG) is seeking a creative, strategic, and purpose-driven communicator to lead our content, brand and engagement strategy at a national level.
This role will be central to elevating the public narrative around gold in Australia showcasing the industry's innovation, community impact, and career opportunities and amplifying the voices of our members through storytelling, campaigns, and digital engagement.
You’ll be responsible for shaping and executing campaigns across education, workforce, sport and sustainability, working closely with our members, partners and media. You’ll also play a key role in delivering GIG’s new strategic direction and helping grow national awareness, reach and impact.
While the role is strategic in nature, we are a small and agile team meaning it will also involve significant hands-on delivery of content and campaigns. The role includes managing one direct report and collaborating across the organisation and its members to ensure high-quality execution across all channels.

Develop engaging, consistent content that tells the story of gold’s role in technology, community, careers, and innovation

Draft media releases, opinion pieces, executive communications and thought leadership content
Campaign and Content Delivery
Plan and deliver multi-channel campaigns (e.g. education, workforce, partnerships, sport)
Coordinate content across social media, newsletters, websites, video, events, and member toolkits
Create storytelling and promotional assets using tools like Canva, Adobe, Active Campaign (with design support where needed)
Oversee and continuously improve GIG’s WordPress websites, ensuring content is up to date, user-friendly, and aligned with brand and campaign goals
Member and Partner Engagement
Work closely with GIG members to share their stories and impact
Support member retention through visibility and communications value
Develop co-branded campaign kits and amplify member initiatives through GIG platforms
Drive engagement in programs like Netball WA, Shooting Stars, Educations and Careers
Measurement and Reporting
Track and report on communications performance across all channels
Identify opportunities for growth, innovation and better audience engagement
Maintain and evolve GIG’s content calendar and reporting rhythms
Who You Are
You’re a storyteller at heart with a strategic mind and a sharp eye for brand. You’re passionate about community impact, purposeful communication, and bringing stories to life in ways that inspire and influence.
You’re as comfortable crafting an executive op-ed as you are briefing a videographer or whipping up a campaign in Canva and you’re excited to work in a small, passionate team that punches above its weight.
Skills & Experience
5+ years experience in communications, marketing, content or brand strategy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a range of formats
Strong understanding of digital and social platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
Experience delivering campaigns with purpose or across education, workforce or community
Proficiency with Canva, Active Campaign, CMS and website tools (e.g. WordPress)
Ability to manage projects, deadlines, stakeholders and freelancers with minimal supervision
A genuine interest in working across industry, education, sport and social impact
What We Offer
The opportunity to shape the national voice of the Australian gold sector
Creative freedom and variety — no two days are the same
