About the Role
As the Associate Director, CVE Policy and Programs, you'll be part of the Connected Communities team within the Social & Community branch.
In this role, you'll lead the whole of government coordination and delivery of the NSW Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Program and drive important, high-profile policy and programs that address all forms hate and violent extremism.
You'll provide expert advice to the Premier and Cabinet and Premier's Department senior executive on hate, violent extremism and national security matters.
You'll collaborate across all layers of government, with a diverse range of communities, non-government organisations, academia, industry and interjurisdictional counterparts to deliver impactful policy and programs aimed at reducing hate and violent extremism.
You'll be responsible for managing and overseeing the coordination of the NSW CVE Program and including budgeting, trend forecasting, responding to emerging threats, evidence generation, evaluation and sector capability building.
You'll work closely with partner agencies across NSW Government to drive innovation in responding to all forms of hate and violent extremism.
You'll work closely with the Commonwealth government counterparts and represent NSW in interjurisdictional fora focussed on overcoming hate and violent extremism.

We're Looking For
- Strategic Policy Expertise: Proven experience in leading policy development and reform, particularly in government or intergovernmental settings, with a focus on national security outcomes
- Program Management Skills: Strong experience in managing complex, whole-of-government programs from design through to delivery and evaluation, especially on sensitive or high-profile issues
- Strong Stakeholder Engagement: Exceptional ability to build relationships and collaborate with government agencies, non-government organisations, industry, academia, and diverse community leaders and stakeholders
- Critical Analysis: Excellent analytical skills to address complex challenges, providing clear, evidence-based advice that drives strategic decision-making
- Communication & Influence: Highly skilled in preparing clear, concise reports and presenting sensitive subject matter to executive-level audiences, community stakeholders and in including interjurisdictional contexts
- Innovation & Adaptability: A proactive mindset with the ability to navigate change, manage shifting priorities, and drive innovative solutions in a dynamic environment including responding to the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
- High degree of cultural competency: A demonstrated ability to work closely with a broad range of impacted communities including diverse cultural and faith communities and other communities impacted by hate and extremism including the LGBTIQ+ community.
- Inclusive leadership of diverse high performing teams: A focus on inclusive leadership and supporting high performing diverse teams to thrive.
- Ability and willingness to obtain for a security clearance at NV1 level or above.
