The Obesity Prevention Team leads strategic public health policy, priority areas and programs state-wide to prevent obesity and increase population level healthy eating. The development and implementation of evidence-based policy to achieve this is a key responsibility of this position.
This includes working in partnership with a range of non-government agencies for the delivery of population-based obesity prevention programs in WA. The development of effective partnerships across a range of sectors is vital to build good public health policy that addresses the individual, community and environmental factors influencing obesity.

- Have a strong track record in developing and delivering innovative, evidence-based public health policies, programs, or projects focused on healthy lifestyle promotion and chronic disease prevention, aligned with strategic priorities.
- Apply strategic thinking to address complex public health challenges—such as nutrition, physical activity, and obesity—by designing effective options and implementing programs that achieve measurable outcomes.
- Communicate effectively through the preparation of high-quality discussion papers, reports, briefings, and correspondence that support informed decision-making and policy or program advancement.
- Understand public health nutrition, physical activity and/or obesity issues, as well as prevention principles and approaches.
