Our client is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join their team. This part-time role, offers an attractive salary range of $75,000 - $85,000 +super (pro-rata). Based in the vibrant city of Melbourne, this position provides an opportunity to utilise your knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and accounting software like Xero. What you'll do:
As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial operations of our client's organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include handling accounts payable & receivable, assisting in preparing financial reports, assisting in budgeting, and managing payroll activities. You will also be involved in grant payments processing and maintaining asset registers. Your attention to detail, and excellent communication skills will be key to your success in this role.
- Work closely with the CFO and CEO on various financial matters.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budget and update budget input sheets.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial management accounts and variance reports.
- Attend Finance Committee meetings and assist in the preparation of Finance Committee papers.
- Maintain spreadsheets and process grant payments from the Grant Management software into Xero.
- Handle accounts payable & receivable including payment of accounts in line with the approved budget.
- Assist in preparing audit papers for Auditors and assist the CFO in managing the relationship with external Auditors.
- Manage payroll activities including preparation & payment of monthly salaries and monitoring staff leave entitlements.
What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Accountant role brings a wealth of experience in bookkeeping and has advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. A Chartered accountant or CPA qualification is appreciated but not mandatory. You should have intermediate to advanced proficiency in using accounting software like Xero. Experience in Grant Management would be a plus. Your ability to meet deadlines, communicate effectively, and pay attention to fine detail will set you apart.
