About the Role
This is a crucial leadership role, elevating the University's philanthropic profile and driving substantial fundraising efforts. As a key partner to the Director of Alumni and Advancement, this role is instrumental in refining operations and processes to drive scalable and sustainable growth in philanthropic performance over time.

Driving the development of an integrated fundraising strategy, focusing on cultivating and strengthening relationships, you will lead a high-performing fundraising team, setting and achieving ambitious metrics and targets, along with carrying a portfolio of the University's most significant donor relationships, ensuring these partnerships are nurtured and expanded to maximise their impact. The teams approach and focus is co-designing with donors, this is meaningful work - delivering impact that is bespoke and donor centric.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a best practice environment that empowers the Advancement team and encourages the highest ethical standards in all fundraising, inclusive communication, a culture of sound planning and monitoring of cultivation of prospects and solicitations and adherence to KPI's
  • Demonstrating leadership to the team through exemplary relationship management (utilising phone calls, email, face-to-face visits, writing proposals and developing bespoke cultivation plans) and the achievement of personal financial and engagement goals, typically but not exclusively working at the $100k-$1million level.
  • Working with Senior Executives, Academics and major donors to further the University's internal and external objectives through the development of strategies and approaches
  • Overseeing the development of a successful annual giving and bequest program

About You
With proven success in implementing highly effective fundraising programs, (particularly face-to-face solicitation of gifts), and a high-level capacity for managing relationships across the full spectrum of current stakeholders, potential new donors and other interested parties you are a master negotiator.

Your exemplary administrative skills and the ability to juggle outstanding people management and individual achievement are matched by your high-level written, verbal and electronic communications skills, which are capable of inspiring others and persuading them to commit to a cause.

A self-described dedicated major gifts practitioner, you also:

  • Hold postgraduate qualifications with relevant extensive management experience; or an equivalent combination of event or marketing experience and / or education and / or training.
  • Possess high-level negotiation and engagement skills, with the ability to develop and utilise networks at a strategic level.
  • Identify and handle impediments to achieving outcomes; deliver outcomes within deadlines, and demonstrate personal energy and enthusiasm for programs and projects
  • Have demonstrated experience in working with Senior Executives, Chairs, Boards/Councils and Committees and ability to use political astuteness to negotiate and reach agreement at a senior level on complex issues.
