About the role:
Skills SA is the steward of South Australia's funded vocational education and training (VET) system, driving successful outcomes for individuals, the economy, and the wider community. It provides policy leadership for the South Australian VET sector by objectively assessing skill needs and strategically managing public investment to maximize skills development.
Working as part of the Analytics and Information Systems team, as the Principal Research and Evaluation Analyst, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the team with research, economic analysis, and evaluating policy and program outcomes to support evidence-based decision-making.
More specifically, you will:
Oversee quantitative and qualitative research from initiation to completion, using data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
Collaborate with key stakeholders to coordinate, deliver and enhance data reporting and impact assessment, fostering a data-driven evidence-based culture and promoting continuous improvement.
Oversee and lead the development of research, monitoring and evaluation findings in reports, presentations, and briefing materials.
Lead data analysis to provide meaningful insights and the development and implementation of monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness, impact, and efficiency of VET policies, programs and initiatives.
Lead the development of recommendations based on evaluation findings to improve the effectiveness of VET policies, programs and initiatives.
Lead and coordinate multiple research, monitoring and evaluation projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and alignment with strategic priorities.
Key Competencies:
To succeed in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
Experience in leading research, monitoring and evaluating projects and managing teams.
Extensive knowledge and application of economic research, modelling, and data analysis.
The ability to translate complex analysis and evaluation findings into clear actionable insights.
You will also be able to:
Critically analyse information, problems and situations, apply lateral thinking and develop innovative and practical solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
Work independently, effectively prioritise strategic activities to achieve performance outcomes in environments characterised by competing priorities and expectations.
Remuneration:
Competitive salary will be offered as $108,109 to $116,864 pa plus superannuation

Qualifications:
Essential: Qualification in statistics, economics, mathematics or a related field.
Desirable: Nil
Special Conditions:
This position will be offered as a full-time contract up to 2 years.
A Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check (NPC) and Working with Children Check will be required prior to employment.
