Hays have partnered with the Town of Cottesloe, who are seeking a Senior Community Development Officer to join their small and dynamic team on a permanent full-time basis. The role will be working 38 hours per week. This position is located within the beautiful coastal suburb of Cottesloe in Perth's West nearby to public transport and free on-site parking. The role will be working in a medium-sized and supportive Corporate & Community Services Team and reporting directly to their Manager Community and Customer Services.

Your new role
Administration & Coordination
- Oversee community development projects, events, and partnerships
- Prepare strategic reports and documentation for informed decision-making
- Engage with local clubs, advisory groups, state government, and networks
- Promote awareness of community development priorities through outreach
- Monitor sector trends and demographic data to guide service delivery
- Apply continuous improvement, customer service, and workplace safety practices
Management of Plans & Strategies
- Develop and implement new community development initiatives
- Coordinate and supervise contractors, consultants, and volunteer groups
- Conduct research projects and prepare reports for Council submissions
- Implement and report on the Disability Access & Inclusion Plan
- Oversee the execution of the Community Development Plan
Information & Education
- Provide technical advice on community development issues
- Promote awareness and engagement through events and publicity
- Monitor relevant external and internal community development information
- Maintain up-to-date community directories and online information resources
Organisational Commitments
- Foster teamwork and accountability in service delivery
- Ensure open communication with the community to enhance service understanding
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in community programs
- Adhere to WHS policies, Council regulations, and procedural requirements
- Manage Customer Relationship Management (CRM) requests
What you'll need to succeed
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Strong understanding of community development principles and practices
- Tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven ability to identify and secure grants, especially through government programs
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement across government, community, and volunteer sectors
- Strong verbal and written communication, including negotiation and influencing
- Experience in project and event management with a results-driven focus
- High-level analytical skills for interpreting data, legislation, and policy
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in local government or a community-focused organisation
- Background in working with volunteers and coordinating advisory groups
- Familiarity with CRM systems, community directories, and information management
- Current C Class driving licence
