Community Development Officer

$87,830 - $100,476 pa pro rata + Superannuation

Temporary Part time - 24 hours per week across 3 or 4 days

(Parental Leave cover until 21 January 2026)

About the role:

The Community Development Team looks to identify local needs, supporting the voicing of local concerns, facilitating capacity building and autonomy of community groups and offering support or coordination services to stakeholders. This role is central to enabling people to achieve things at their local level to improve their community, working closely with a dynamic, collaborative team.

As the Community Development Officer, you will assist the Coordinator Community Development in building positive relationships, establishing professional contacts and the development, implementation and review of the sections strategies, policies and initiatives related to Community Development and Capacity Building, Youth, Early Years, and Sister City, . As the City continues to evolve, this position offers exciting and dynamic challenges.

This role offers the flexibility to increase hours up to full-time through to 28 August 2025, depending on the employee's availability and in consultation with their formal leader.

About you:

To be successful, you will be in possession of, or significant progress towards, a relevant qualification in Community Development, Health Sciences/Promotion, Social Science, Youth Development, Early Childhood or related discipline or equivalent relevant experience.

You will have demonstrated experience in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Community Development projects and programs or operational experience for a broad range of demographics. You will also possess highly developed interpersonal, conflict resolution and facilitation skills with the ability to communicate with and motivate a wide range of stakeholders to work collaboratively and build their capacity to achieve their objectives more independently.
