About the role

MODE FABRICS LIMITED is seeking a talented Island fashion designer to join our creative team on a contract basis. As an Island fashion designer, you will be responsible for developing innovative and culturally-inspired designs that capture the essence of island-style clothing. This role is based in St Marys, NSW and offers the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting fashion projects.

What you'll be doing

Researching and drawing inspiration from island cultures and traditional textiles to create unique fashion designs

Developing mood boards, sketches, and technical drawings to effectively communicate design concepts

Collaborating with the design team to select fabrics, trims, and other materials that complement your designs

Staying up-to-date with the latest fashion trends and industry developments to ensure your designs are relevant and on-trend

Providing input and expertise throughout the garment development process, from initial prototyping to final production

Representing the brand at trade shows, fashion events, and other industry engagements

What we're looking for

A diploma or degree in fashion design or a related field

Proven experience as a fashion designer, with a strong portfolio demonstrating your expertise in island-inspired or tropical-themed designs

Excellent knowledge of textile design, garment construction, and fabric properties

Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and technical drawing tools

Strong creative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate abstract concepts into tangible designs

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with the broader design team
