We're seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented R&D Tax Consultant with strong experience supporting IT sector clients. You will lead and contribute to end-to-end R&D Tax Incentive claims for a diverse portfolio of technology businesses-from startups developing SaaS platforms to global players in cloud computing, AI, and cybersecurity.
About the Team:
The R&D Tax team works with some of the most forward-thinking companies in Australia, helping them unlock government incentives to fund and fuel their innovation, blending technical tax expertise with deep industry knowledge, particularly in technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise and assist clients in preparing R&D Tax Incentive claims in accordance with ATO and AusIndustry requirements.
Work closely with software developers, CTOs, and project teams to identify eligible R&D activities and expenditures.
Prepare technical narratives and supporting documentation for R&D claims.
Analyse financial records to quantify eligible R&D expenditure.
Liaise with internal tax and audit teams to ensure compliance and integration.
Monitor legislative changes in R&D tax and educate clients accordingly.
Support audit reviews and defend claims where required.
About You:
2+ years' experience in R&D tax advisory, with a strong focus on IT/software development clients.
Sound understanding of the R&D Tax Incentive program, particularly in a software context.
Ability to translate complex technical projects into accessible narratives for regulators.
Experience engaging with tech leads and finance professionals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Degree in Accounting, Tax, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
CA/CPA qualification or progress toward it is advantageous.
