About the opportunity
The Business Manager provides operational and strategic support for the University’s Rozelle Precinct and School of Paramedicine, ensuring the effective management of business operations. The role works closely with the Dean of the Rozelle Precinct and Head of the School of Paramedicine and supports the General Manager to drive financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and business development initiatives aligned with Health and University priorities.
The Business Manager is responsible for overseeing strategic planning, financial management, people processes, infrastructure coordination, and governance compliance ensuring excellence in academic and student experiences, operations, and safety while collaborating on place-based marketing, events and WHS compliance. The position requires strong commercial acumen, strategic problem-solving, and a continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on embedding best-practice operational models that support student success and research excellence.
What you’ll do:
- Lead operational planning and business management activities for the School of Paramedicine, ensuring alignment with Health and University priorities.
- Develop and implement business plans, budgets, workforce/resource plans, and infrastructure strategies.
- Provide financial oversight, including budget planning, financial reporting, expenditure tracking, and resource allocation to support financial sustainability.
- Support strategic planning and decision-making, providing data-driven insights, key performance metrics, and business intelligence to inform strategic priorities.
- Act as a key liaison between the Academic Units in Health and central University functions, negotiating and monitoring the delivery of professional services to the Rozelle campus, its staff and students.
What we’re looking for:
- A degree in finance, business, management, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of professional experience and competence.
- Proven strategic and critical thinking abilities, with a demonstrated ability to analyse complex issues, identify risks, and provide informed recommendations.
- Strong business acumen and financial management experience, including budget planning, resource allocation, and commercial decision-making within a complex organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead operational initiatives, manage projects, and drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and organizational levels.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 10 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $157,913 comprising base salary within the range of $132,973 to $134,968 plus 17% superannuation.
