DAIWS operates 24/7 women’s shelters for Crisis Accommodation and transitional units for longer term accommodation, and Outreach and Counselling services for clients to support them in living strong empowered lives.
The DFSV Case Worker works directly with victim survivors , they will be supporting Women and Children that access DAIWS safe Houses & the Darwin Hospitals Emergency Department .The position requires a person with a proven ability to lead high quality case management through delivery of strength based approach. You will deliver services in a culturally safe manner, using client-centered and trauma informed practice, as well as familiarity with social/systemic issues faced by Aboriginal people. You will be required to use a 48 hour Crisis response Framework and conduct risk assessments using the common risk assessment tool ( CRAT).
To be successful as a DFSV Case Worker you will apply a ‘can do’ person, able to resolve challenges within your scope of practice, a team player able to take feedback and integrate that into your practice. You will take responsibility for your work. You will enjoy working alone on day and or overnight shifts, assisting vulnerable people with complex needs, complete comprehensive reliable case notes using the SHIP database. Your communication skills will be well-developed.
You will work closely with your Team Leader, Crisis Support and Accommodation Services and make yourself available for induction and ongoing training program.
You will enjoy preparing light and main meals for residents, and cleaning the kitchen and dining rooms afterwards, preparing bedrooms for use and at all times, present a welcoming and reassuring environment.
You will have a NT driver's license, Current Police Criminal History Check & Ochre card. Be willing to obtain a First Aid Certificate.
Hours are rotating shifts and or 8.15am -4.45pm, 4pm-10pm , 8am -4.30pm including overnight weekend shifts.
