The Opportunity – Paint Specialist

We’re currently seeking an enthusiastic Paint Specialist to join our team at Mount Barker Mitre 10 in a full-time position.

In this role, you’ll be the go-to expert in all things paint – helping DIYers, tradies and home improvers find the perfect finish, colour and product for their needs. You’ll combine strong customer service with in-depth product knowledge, backed by hands-on tinting and colour-matching skills.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver outstanding service and advice to retail and trade customers in the Paint Department

Provide expert guidance on paint types, colour selection, finishes, surface prep and application

Operate tinting machines to produce accurate colour matches and custom mixes

Maintain paint equipment and tinting area to a high standard

Assist with product ordering and inventory control for paint and related accessories

Educate customers on the latest products, tools, techniques and trends

Ensure merchandising and ticketing is up to date and visually appealing

Contribute to a safe, clean and welcoming store environment

What You’ll Bring

A passion for paint and colour, with previous experience in a paint or hardware retail environment preferred

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Proven ability to build strong customer relationships

Strong attention to detail, especially in colour matching and tinting

Physically capable of manual handling and standing for extended periods

A proactive attitude with the ability to work both independently and in a team

A desire to keep learning about new paint technologies, accessories and trends
