Responsibilities
As a Principal Power Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering large-scale renewable energy projects in Victoria and across Australia.

Your core duties will include:

  • Leading and conducting advanced power system studies, including grid connection assessments, generator performance evaluations, and compliance analysis in accordance with the National Electricity Market (NEM) requirements.
  • Managing end-to-end project delivery, ensuring all technical milestones, regulatory standards, and safety protocols are met on time and within budget.
  • Providing technical oversight on the integration of wind energy assets, collaborating with developers, network service providers, and regulatory bodies to facilitate seamless grid connections and optimal system performance.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders, including clients, utilities, and internal teams, to communicate complex technical concepts and achieve project objectives.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.
  • Overseeing data analysis, reporting, and the use of industry-standard modelling tools (such as PSCAD, PowerFactory, and PSS/E) to support evidence-based decision-making.

Skills Required
To excel in this role, you will need a blend of technical expertise and strong interpersonal capabilities, including:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of power system studies, grid integration, and compliance with Australian energy market regulations.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software tools for power system modelling and analysis (e.g., PSCAD, PowerFactory, PSS/E).
  • Demonstrated project management skills, with the ability to lead complex projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and adaptable approach to overcoming challenges in a dynamic sector.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, safety, and continuous professional development.
