The Venue
The Rising Sun Hotel has stood proudly on the corner of Burnley and Swan since the 1800s, watching the world change while remaining, mercifully, the kind of pub where you can still get a proper pint without downloading an app. Now, reopening in early June from the team behind the Royal Oak (Fitzroy North) and The Sporting Club (Brunswick), it’s entering a new era, one that champions warmth, familiarity, and food that’s proudly, wonderfully pubby.

About the Role
Opening June 4th, The Rising Sun is firing up the grill, tapping the kegs, and throwing open its doors to the kind of people who make pubs feel like home. We’re looking for friendly, switched-on hospitality folk who genuinely enjoy people and know the magic is in the details, remembering a regular’s drink, knowing when to crack a joke, or when to just quietly get the extra chair.

You might be starting and keen to learn the ropes (we’ve got the mentors for that), or you might already know your way around a beer tap, a docket printer and a steak order “medium but not too medium”.

Either way, if you’ve got a can-do attitude, we want to hear from you.

The Ideal Candidate Will Be:

Experienced in fast-paced venues

Comfortable running their own section with confidence and good humour

Able to carry three plates, balance a tray, and carry a conversation

Clued-up on Aussie beers, wine, and not flustered when asked what goes well with lamb

Genuine love of hospitality and interacting with a community is an absolute must

Valid RSA and Food Handling Certificate

Calm, collaborative, and clear

Familiar with OrderMate POS and OpenTable

Availability
Evenings and weekends are essential.
