Key Responsibilities and functions of the Community Services Officer include:
- Plan, develop and implement programs and activities with the Community Services team.
- Implement and promote youth events across Moira Shire in accordance with Department of Families, Fairness and Housing FReeZA funding agreements.
- Consult and liaise with relevant community organisations, and Government Departments.
- Represent Council on relevant Committees including the Youth Engagement Network.
- Coordination and facilitation of the Youth Council program.
- Assist in researching and preparing relevant submissions and grant applications.
- Identify and procure required resources, such as equipment, venues, and staff for the delivery of events and programs, within budget parameters.
- Support event management and program delivery including risk assessments, planning and evaluation.
- Participate in organisational planning and relevant training programs.
- Operate within council guidelines to have an active professional presence on social media
- Prepare written reports, correspondence and other administrative tasks relating to the positions’ area of responsibility.
- Provide support to the Community Services team members, where required.
Considerations
As part of community engagement and development activities, the incumbent will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
To be considered for this role, you must attach a cover letter addressing how you meet the Key Selection Criteria:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial experience.
- Broad knowledge of community issues and trends impacting rural and regional Victoria.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver and monitor projects, programs and events.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships.
- Well-developed communication skills including group facilitation, interpersonal, report writing, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, across a number of work areas and subject to public scrutiny.
- Experience in facilitating community consultations.
