If you are interested in becoming a key member of VTS Cairns providing and monitoring information service to vessels, having strong skills in maintaining effective relationships with maritime industry representatives and being able to ensure the safe, efficient and compliant movement of vessels and protection of the environment, then you are strongly encouraged to apply.
As a Casual VTSO you will play an important role where some of your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Delivery of the prescribed VTS for the designated areas in accordance with regulations, procedures, instructions, and delegations.
Delivering of communications, coordination and alerting services, including in response to marine incidents, related emergencies, and natural disasters.
Operating and contributing to the review of all systems and equipment necessary for the safe and efficient movement of shipping.
Conducting ship scheduling functions for the regions ports by implementing port procedures and applying ship scheduling guidelines.
Contributing to the continual improvement of safe management practices for vessel traffic in Queensland waters.
