About the Service
Wide Bay Lives Lived Well AOD Outreach Service is a free mobile drug and alcohol treatment service for adults that provides individual counselling and case management, and referral support in the local region. Our aim is to provide a tailored service with a harm reduction framework and or abstinence-based focus, that meets the needs of individuals, families and communities experiencing alcohol or other drug misuse.
We are looking for a part-time AOD Counsellor Case Manager, working 4 days per week (approximately 30 hours) for a period of 1 year (maximum term contract until 30 June 2026). There may be opportunity for this role to become permanent.
Your opportunity
As an AOD Counsellor Case Manager based in Bundaberg, you will engage and support a cohort of clients in managing, counselling, and treating AOD dependency and related issues. You will advocate for them, celebrate their achievements, and help them build confidence to move forward.
In collaboration with the Wide Bay Residential Rehab, based in Thabeban, you will join a large and impactful local team, however, will be based off site in a community health building with one other outreach staff member. Working in collaboration with the residential team, you will build strong connections with this team and the wider community.
Your responsibilities include providing non-judgmental, client-centred support, conducting assessments, and offering a wide range of clinical and psycho-social interventions. You will work with clients to develop personalised recovery plans collaboratively.
This role involves working with clients presenting mild to moderate, and occasionally complex, issues. Your daily tasks will involve a mix of face-to-face appointments, stakeholder engagement, and online meetings (via Microsoft Teams) for case conferences and supervision.
The gross hourly pay rate ranges between $43.08 to $49.28 plus super, depending on the successful candidate’s skills, knowledge, and experience.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in this varied role, you will have the ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with your clients and our key stakeholders and partner organisations.
You will also have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related health services discipline.
- Previous experience in working with clients facing alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues, independent of university placements.
- Applied knowledge of contemporary evidence based AOD counselling practice, case management, intake, and assessment.
- You thrive in an autonomous work environment and take a proactive approach to your tasks.
- Adaptability and an agile approach to your work – being able to adjust your working style and re-prioritise your tasks as necessary throughout the day.
- Possess strong IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and other applications.
- Highly developed communication and community engagement skills.
- Current Australian issued Drivers Licence and willingness to undergo a Criminal History Check.
While not essential, we’d also love you to have:
- Previous experience working in an outreach service
- Demonstrated understanding of the Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) and Mental Health Sector.
