The Role

As the Medical Oncologist, you will provide specialist Medical Oncology services to both inpatient and ambulatory patients, at Royal Darwin Hospital (RDH), regional hospitals and remote communities. You’ll also contribute to post graduate education at RDH, including the supervision of trainees.

Key Duties

Conduct regular inpatient ward rounds and outpatient sessions incorporating teaching and provide specialist opinion to referring medical practitioners.

Provide care and advice on the management of patients with oncological conditions to colleagues including those located in geographically isolated locations in the Territory.

Provide routine and emergency after hours care on a roster basis.

Provide an after-hours consultancy service to colleagues and junior medical staff.

About you

You’re a dedicated professional with a passion for delivering exceptional oncology care. To be successful you will have:

Current registration with Medical Board of Australia or eligible to obtain

Current Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or eligible to obtain

Sound clinical patient assessment and management skills with a commitment to high-quality care.

An interest in and a commitment to improving Indigenous health.

As a Senior Specialist Clinician, you will also have completed no less than the equivalent of six years full-time service in medical practice as a staff specialist
