Seeking an Experienced WHS Consultant - 9-Month Contract | Forbes, NSW

We are currently looking for experienced Work Health and Safety (WHS) Consultants to fill a Position for a 9-month contract based in Forbes, New South Wales.

This is a great opportunity to contribute your expertise in a dynamic environment, ensuring compliance and promoting a strong safety culture across operations.

The Role:

Core Responsibilities

• Leadership & Mentoring
• Coach and support WHS team members and broader council staff.
• Lead consultation sessions and foster a culture of safety awareness.
• Training & Development
• Deliver internal WHS training and Verification of Competency (VOC) assessments.
• Train staff in WHS management systems and support system development.
• Policy & Systems Management
• Review, update, and implement WHS policies and procedures.
• Manage and enhance WHS Management Systems (WHSMS), ensuring robust document control and compliance.
• Audits & Reporting
• Conduct weekly site audits and lead investigations into major incidents.
• Prepare for external WHS audits (e.g., StateCover) and provide detailed WHS reporting.
• Project & Risk Management
• Lead WHS-related projects and initiatives.
• Conduct and oversee risk assessments and emergency planning, including drills.
• Health & Safety Programs
• Deliver workplace health programs and support ISO accreditation processes.
• Ensure plant and equipment safety (e.g., mowers, excavators, graders).

Essential Criteria

• Proven experience in WHS within local government, construction, or other high-risk sectors.
• In-depth knowledge of WHS legislation and ISO standards.
• Strong proficiency in WHS technologies and systems, including training and implementation.
• Excellent communication, coaching, and organisational skills.
• Willingness to work on-site in Forbes for 60-70% of the contract duration.

To be part of a divers and inclusive team on a part time basis, working 3 days per week. (Opportunity may arise for further hours upon discussions.)
