At EIT we firmly believe in keeping the human in Human Resources — being approachable, supportive, and focused on making the workplace better for everyone. We’re here to support staff as much as the business, and we take pride in building strong, respectful relationships across the board.

As our east coast team continues to grow, we're creating a brand-new opportunity for an experienced HR Generalist to join our Melbourne campus and play a key leadership role in shaping our people strategy across both Melbourne and Brisbane. This isn't just a generalist role, it's a chance to own the HR function for our East coast campuses and deliver meaningful initiatives. You’ll be the go-to person for all things HR locally, while working closely with our Perth-based HR team and national management.

In this mid-senior level role, you’ll need to be self-motivated and decisive, with a strong grasp of employee relations and compliance. You’ll lead local HR operations and provide expert guidance to managers on complex staff issues, including mediations, investigations and disciplinary processes, while also being the 'go to' person for general staff on any queries or concerns they may have. You’ll help to shape a positive, fair, and people-focused culture, and be a key voice in supporting both staff and leadership.

What You'll Do

  • Leading recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes for Melbourne and Brisbane.
  • Providing day-to-day HR advice and support for our Melbourne/Brisbane staff, including staff wellbeing, engagement, performance issues, grievances and disciplinary matters
  • Leading or supporting with investigations and mediations, ensuring compliance and a fair, constructive outcome
  • Supporting workforce planning and retention strategies aligned to team and business needs.
  • Coaching line managers through performance development and staff management challenges.
  • Helping ensure compliance with Australian legislation and relevant awards
  • Coordinating staff events and engagement initiatives.
  • Work with the HR Manager to manage and implement PD for Melbourne and Brisbane.
  • Work with the HR Manager on academic recruitment for Australia and internationally
  • Supporting academic recruitment and professional development planning
  • Collaborating with and assisting the HR team on key projects and initiatives.

What You'll Bring

  • 4+ years of HR generalist experience, including hands-on experience with complex employee relations matters.
  • Strong skills in investigation, conflict resolution, negotiation, and supporting positive staff outcomes.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related field OR equivalent experience
  • A people-first mindset with exceptional communication and leadership skills.
  • Able to work effectively and establish strong relationships with staff from all levels of the organisation with maturity and diplomacy.
  • The confidence to work independently and to manage sensitive matters.
  • A proactive, collaborative attitude — you’re happy to roll up your sleeves and get involved.
  • Willingness to travel to our Brisbane campus every 2–3 months.
