The Role
The main function of the Weapons Technician at Joint Proof and Experimental Unit (JPEU) is to conduct activities in support of test and evaluation activities including setup and firing of weapon systems and munitions.
Your duties may include:
- Providing direction to Range Service staff.
- Supervise other Range Services personnel in support of test and evaluation activities including setup and firing of weapon systems and munitions.
- Perform day-to-day tasks of Range Services, including maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Produce and assist in the technical review of JPEU documents, which includes writing, reviewing task instructions and the research of technical data and the provision of documentation feedback.
- Provide technical advice to external stakeholders through Operations Coordination Officer.
JPEU is willing to commence preferred candidate at a Baseline level clearance with the expectation to upgrade to NV1.
About our Team
JPEU is an integral part of Explosive Ordnance Branch, Joint Logistics Command and is tasked to provide dynamic, static and environmental test and evaluation services to the Australian Defence Organisation.
JPEU consists of a Headquarters which is spread across VIC, SA and ACT, as well as two ranges at P&EE Graytown VIC, and P&EE Port Wakefield SA. Employment at Graytown also currently attracts a Special Defence Locality Assistance allowance of approximately ($184.44 per fortnight).

- The ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policy and procedures.
- Will have the ability to provide mentorship to new personnel.
- The ability to conduct non-technical training.
The right person for this role will show the flexibility to respond to the changing context and shifting priorities of JPEU in order to achieve trials outcomes.
