Senior Trade Overseer - Facilities Maintenance - Electrical 5D
Wellington Correctional Centre

Location - Wellington Facilities Maintenance, Wellington Correctional Centre

Employment type - Full Time, Ongoing

Salary - $101, 981 pa + Incidental Allowance, Superannuation and Leave Loading

Your role

We are looking for a proactive and dedicated Electrician to work at our Facilities Maintenance Business Unit at the Wellington Correctional Centre.

What you'll do

Senior Overseers are trade qualified Correctional Officers with the essential role of supervising, managing and developing inmates and staff in their work-related activities within a correctional centre.

Provide leadership and mentoring to Overseers and supervise and develop inmates through managing, coaching, instructing, and encouraging them, as members of a team, in order that they may improve their work skills, enhance their post-release employment prospects, and contribute productively to Business Unit objectives.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant trade qualifications: Minimum Cert III in Electro Technology, Electrician or similar related trades and hold a current Electrical Supervisors certificate.
  • Current Certificate III in Correctional Practice or capacity to complete Certificate III in Correctional Practice in accordance with specified CSNSW timeframes
  • Ability and willingness to work across trades as required
  • Ability and willingness to work across varying trades as required
  • Willing to participate in a cyclic on call roster.
  • Willing to work in a team environment
  • Current NSW Driver Licence and preparedness to drive a vehicle while performing the role

Corrective Services NSW (CSNSW) delivers professional correctional services and programs to reduce reoffending and create safer communities. We house remand and sentenced inmates in correctional centres and supervise offenders serving orders in the community.

CSNSW provides reports and advice to courts and releasing/parole authorities and assesses offenders in the community and in custody for relevant interventions to reduce their risks of reoffending. CSNSW works in partnership with other government and non-government justice and human services agencies to support victims, facilitate restorative justice and promote reintegration.
