The Team:
Be a part of the recently expanded Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) Patient Flow service! Patient Flow is the entry point for all referrals into the service and provide triage as well as advice to the public and other professionals. With a rapidly expanding CYMHS Service it is more important than ever that children and young people living with a mental illness receive timely and appropriate service provision.
The Role:
Liaises directly with referrers and members of the public to support access to CYMHS services. This is a highly skilled role which requires high organisation skills, sound clinical judgement, and the ability to work independently.
You will need
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high quality mental health care in a child and adolescent mental health setting with a particular focus on initial assessments, risk assessments, brief psychological interventions and developing initial management plans.
- Extensive demonstrated experience working in a child and adolescent mental health setting in a leadership or autonomous clinical role and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant philosophies, such as trauma informed care and recovery principles, policies and procedures, and associated legislation, which impact upon children and adolescents’ mental health care.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to fourteen (14) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualifications; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom
