What You'll be Doing
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) / Clinical Midwife Consultant (CMC) is an expert practitioner who, through leadership facilitates evidence based practice. The CNC/CMC will promote a service which fosters clinical excellence, research and professional leadership. The CNC/CMC contributes to quality health care by collaborating with the health care providers and consumer groups, developing clinical practice standards and evaluating their outcomes. The CNC/CMC is responsible for providing services which facilitate effective management of the care in the given specialty.

Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Drug Health Services operates across the South Western Sydney Local Health District, providing a comprehensive range of treatments and interventions for individuals, families, and carers affected by alcohol and other drug use.

The services include inpatient withdrawal at the 'Corella' unit in Fairfield, the Opioid Treatment Program, outpatient clinics, and specialised teams such as the Aboriginal Drug & Alcohol Team and the Youth Service. Recognised for their excellence, SWSLHD Drug Health Services has been a finalist in the NSW Health Excellence in Allied Health Awards, highlighting their commitment to high-quality care and innovation.

  1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition an approved post registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which the employee is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation
  2. Can you provide evidence of how you maintain current knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in your specialty, apply this expert knowledge to deliver culturally responsive, safe, and compassionate care, and effectively communicate with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure responsive care?
  3. Can you demonstrate your ability to interact professionally and resolve conflicts, use critical thinking to deliver advanced evidence-based nursing care, and participate in risk management, work health and safety, and quality improvement in the workplace?
  4. Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted
