The Role
As part of our Family Dispute Resolution team, the Child Consultant/Family Advisor role provides Child Inclusive and Child Focused sessions during and after the mediation process, with the view of improving the co-parenting alliance and improving outcomes for children and young people. Additionally, the Child consultant will be available to complete a range of screening and assessment, early intervention and prevention, community education and support services for Centrecare in a professional and ethical manner that reflects the ethos and practice of Centrecare program requirements.
A Few Specifics
- Conduct child interviews with the view of providing parents with child-focused feedback.
- Conduct parent interviews with the purpose of reducing parental conflict and improving the post-separation co-parenting relationship.
- Provide feedback to parents during the mediation process to realign the co-parenting relationship.
- Conduct post separation co-parenting sessions.
- Be available to undertake screening and assessments, and case management using approaches that are appropriate to program requirements.
- Assess, identify, and develop interventions, including referral, where risk may be present, such as Family and Domestic Violence, child abuse, drug and alcohol and mental health.
- Assess, identify, and develop interventions that both acknowledge and offer solutions where power imbalance is a serious issue.
- Conduct all practice with a child focused approach.
- Must be available to work one evening shift a week (12pm - 8pm) on either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor Degree) in Psychology or Social Work.
- Experience in Child Inclusive Practice (preferable but not required)
- C class drivers license.
- Working with Children Check
- National Police Clearance
- Demonstrated experience in intake, assessment and case management.
- Experience and knowledge of domestic violence and family law
- Knowledge and experience in early intervention and prevention program services.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver and evaluate personal and relationship education programs relevant to children.
