Support Families to Heal, Recover and Reconnect
Are you passionate about restoring safety, stability and connection for families facing complex challenges? Meli is looking for a Child & Family Practitioner – Restoring to provide intensive case management and early intervention support to families across the Barwon Southwest region.
This role sits within the Restoring stream of our Family Support Platform and focuses on promoting healing from trauma, breaking cycles of disadvantage, and strengthening family capacity. You’ll deliver evidence-informed, recovery-oriented support to families with significant and enduring needs.
About the Role
As a Child & Family Practitioner – Restoring, you will:
- Provide intensive case management, assertive outreach and tailored interventions for families with complex needs.
- Work closely with families to identify risk factors, develop protective strategies and build long-term resilience and connection.
- Conduct risk assessments and create child and family action plans using trauma-informed and evidence-based approaches.
- Collaborate with internal leadership and external services to ensure coordinated, holistic support.
- Deliver group-based programs and participate in community engagement to advocate for stronger outcomes for families.

- Multiple ongoing positions
- Working either 1 FTE (38 hours per week) or 0.8 FTE (30.4 hours per week)
- $97,614 p/a + Super + Salary Packaging

What We're Looking For
We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Welfare Studies, Alcohol and Other Drugs, Behavioural Sciences or a related field.
- Experience managing complex cases using therapeutic, child-centred, and strengths-based practices.
- Strong knowledge of risk and needs assessment frameworks and family systems theory.
- A thorough understanding of the challenges that impact parenting capacity and how to access appropriate services.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with a commitment to inclusive, culturally sensitive practice.
